About Daruma · Bang Phra, Thailand
About the people, place and things of Daruma.
Daruma is an ecologically engineered learning site built for a lifetime of study: a working eco farm, a fully operating school, a natural swimming pool and a library holding more than 1,600 print books, most of it designed and built by the people who came here to learn.
The campus is the lesson.
Mosaic School is a fully operating school for local children, and it is also where our permaculture courses are taught. Course participants share the same buildings, gardens and bamboo structures as the students who learn here every day, and there are real chances to cross paths during a course.
Neil designed the campus with permaculture principles from the outset: buildings woven between tree canopy, food gardens between classrooms, natural and recycled materials throughout. Walk the site once and the thinking behind it starts to make sense on its own.
