Who is teaching you
Rosemary Morrow has worked in permaculture since 1986.
Rosemary has worked with farmers and communities across Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. She co-founded Permaculture for Refugees and wrote three books. Her syllabus combines adult learning, Care of People and methods from the Alternatives to Violence Project. She teaches all seven days in Thailand.

IPC16 follows this course. The conference runs 6 to 8 November near Bangkok. The convergence runs 11 to 15 November in Nakhon Ratchasima. What is Permaculture Teacher Training?
Permaculture Teacher Training (PTT) is a seven-day course for PDC graduates who want to teach. Rosemary Morrow designed it and has taught it around the world since 2011.

From day one, you teach a short PDC topic to a few classmates. The group and presentation grow each day while you add eye contact, body language, listening, questions and non-violent communication.
Mornings build the theory; afternoons are for practice, feedback and preparing the next lesson. The daily agenda is shared in advance.

The venue
A working campus, not a conference room.
The course runs at Daruma Eco Farm in Bang Phra, Chonburi, one hour from Bangkok Airport (BKK). Since 2007, more than 800 students from 36 countries have studied here.
The natural pool, rice paddy, chinampas, ponds, animals and gardens give you real material to teach. Daruma also shares the campus with Mosaic School, an alternative school with more than 100 children. Meals come from the school kitchen, and you can use the library and study areas throughout the course.
Getting here
One hour from Bangkok Airport.
Daruma is in Bang Phra, Chonburi. We can arrange an airport pickup, or you can travel by taxi, train or bus.
Airport pickup, about 1 hour
Direct from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), for up to three people. Ask us at least one week ahead.
Grab or taxi, about 1 hour
Door to door from BKK or Bangkok. Install Grab before you travel, or agree the taxi fare first.
Train, about 3 hours
Weekday train from Hua Lamphong at 6:55am to Bang Phra, opposite the farm.
Bus, about 2 hours
From Ekkamai (window 15, marked "Sri Racha") or Chatuchak, then 10 to 15 minutes by tuk tuk.
Do I really need a PDC first?
Yes. Your Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) can be from any school, country or year. The course assumes you already know the PDC curriculum.
If you don't yet have one, our own nine-day PDC runs earlier in the year, timed so you can graduate before this course.
How do I become a permaculture teacher?
By permaculture tradition, a PDC graduate can teach permaculture. Rosemary Morrow advises new graduates to begin while their knowledge and motivation are fresh.
This course gives you daily practice and feedback before you teach your first real class.
I'm coming to Thailand for IPC16. Can I do both?
Yes. Teacher training ends 4 November. The 5th is a rest and travel day, and IPC16 starts on the 6th. We can arrange transport with the group.
What certificate do I get?
A Permaculture Teacher Training certificate issued through the Blue Mountains Permaculture Institute in Australia.
Does this count towards a permaculture diploma or degree?
No. This is a teaching certificate, not a diploma or university degree. Permaculture diplomas are separate programmes, often based on a portfolio of design work.
Teaching may contribute to a future portfolio, but this certificate does not give automatic diploma credit. Check the rules with your own association.
Is Rosemary Morrow actually teaching, in person?
Yes. Rosemary teaches in person at Daruma for all seven days, alongside Sneha Koppula and Ashley Chen.
Is accommodation included?
Yes. Every price includes eight nights, all meals and the full course. See dates and prices for each accommodation option.
What are the meals like?
Meals are cooked in the Mosaic School kitchen and shared at the long table. We use farm produce when available, and vegetarian food is always offered.

How do I pay, and can I cancel?
A deposit of ฿7,500 holds your place; the balance is due by 1 October. The deposit stays refundable until 14 days before check-in.
Book by 15 September and any option is ฿3,000 cheaper. All IPC16 attendees receive a further 10% off any advertised PTT price, including early bird; send your IPC16 booking reference when you enquire, and we will honour it for places already booked. The concessionary campus rate of ฿19,600 for participants from countries on IPC16's concession list applies whenever you book, though it doesn't stack with the early bird.
What language is the course taught in?
English. The group will be international, so teachers use clear language. Ashley also speaks Mandarin.
What should I bring?
Bring your PDC notes, light clothes, rain protection and comfortable shoes. A laptop is useful but optional. Wi-Fi and computers are available on campus.
How long should I stay, and what about visas?
The course stay is eight nights. With IPC16, many participants will be in Thailand for around two weeks. Visa rules depend on your passport, so check before booking flights.
